Stream Reasoning Workshop 2019

Linköping University is located in the city of Linköping (external), which is the provincial capital of Östergötland. Sweden's capital Stockholm is located about 200 kilometres to the north-east.

Travelling via Stockholm Skavsta or Stockholm Arlanda

If you arrive in Sweden via one of Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) or Stockholm Skavsta (NYO), it is easiest to reach Linköping by train.

To travel by train, one can use the Swedish railway company SJ (external). There are regular train services between Arlanda C, Stockholm C, and Linköping C, as well as between Nyköping C and Linköping C. Tickets should be purchased in advance of travel and may include seat reservations. Avoid purchasing tickets on-board as that will incur a hefty surcharge. In some cases, SJ cooperates with the local public transport services such as Östgötatrafiken (external), which runs commuter trains and buses throughout Linköping’s home province of Östergötland. Train travel from either location to Linköping takes between 1.5 and 2 hours.

While cab services are available, these are usually significantly more expensive. Be careful to only use cab companies recommended by the airport to avoid surprises.

Travelling via Linköping City Airport

Linköping City Airport (LPI) is a small airport run by Saab, located within the city limits. To travel from the airport to the university or a hotel inside the city, one can choose between either using the cab services located outside of the airport or using the excellent bus system run by Östgötatrafiken.

Cabs are located directly outside of the airport at a designated queuing site. Alternatively, one can save some money by booking a cab from Taxibil (external) using their web portal.

To use the bus network instead, one can either take a short walk from the airport to the bus stop at Saab Norra Porten or at Vetegatan, from where it is a short connection to Linköping Central Station. Use line 21 at Saab Norra Porten or line 16 at Vetegatan.

Linköping Central Station is the main hub for all buses and trains in Linköping. From here, line 12 goes by the university. We recommend you get off at Mäster Mattiasväg since it is closer to the workshop venue than the Universitetet bus stop. The buses normally announce bus stops vocally and visually on the bus monitors.

To take the bus, one needs to purchase a ticket in advance. This can be done using the Östgötatrafiken app for Android or Apple. No Internet connection is required to activate previously-purchased tickets, and only one ticket is required one-way regardless of intermediate stops. Just show your phone to the bus driver when you get on.
